Operation Golan Thunder — Yom Kippur War 1973
A historically inspired DCS World mission based on the opening fighting over the Golan Heights on October 6, 1973. This mission can be flown from either side: join the Red Force and carry out the Syrian strike on Camp Nafakh, or fly for the Blue Force and attempt to intercept and stop the attack.
On the Red side, fly the Su-22 mod or use the Su-25 as an alternative. Depart T-4/Tiyas, head west toward Damascus, descend to low altitude, use terrain masking to approach the Golan Heights, strike Camp Nafakh, then escape east toward Syrian airspace while Israeli fighters respond.
On the Blue side, fly the F-4 Phantom and defend the Golan Heights. Scramble to intercept the incoming Syrian strike package before it can destroy the command center, helicopter facilities, fuel storage, and other targets around Camp Nafakh.
The mission is designed for single-player or multiplayer, with AI support, Syrian MiG cover, Israeli interceptors, ground fighting, SAM activity, and a large-scale 1973 battlefield atmosphere.
